Dental Implants & Mini Dental Implants
How can you replace missing teeth without having to wear removable partials or dentures?

One way is by using dental implants. These wonders of modern dentistry are carefully placed where your original tooth used to be. It's fairly quick to do and rarely uncomfortable. Then, after a short healing period, a beautiful new replacement tooth is attached to the implant. All the things you used to be able to do with your natural teeth can be done again with implants!

Dental implants are substitutes for teeth and they are today's best alternative to your natural teeth. They offer you a permanent and secure solution for replacing one or more teeth. They are made of bio-compatible materials, just the same as hip implants or similar orthopedic devices, and function as anchors or support for traditional forms of dentistry, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Many of our patients will tell you that implants have changed not only their smiles and their overall appearance, but also even their lives! There are numerous reasons to choose dental implants:

•  Esthetically, they support crowns that look like your natural teeth. Functionally, dental implants feel and act like natural teeth.
•  Implants eliminate the need for distasteful adhesives. There is no longer a need to use "glue" when your prosthesis is anchored to implants.
•  Implants can actually improve the taste of food. With less plastic covering your palate (the roof of your mouth), you can enjoy natural flavors and sensations again.
•  Lastly, implants can help maintain your bone structure and support facial tissues. They reduce or eliminate bone atrophy, which causes "shrinkage" or facial cosmetic changes.

What are Mini Dental Implants (MDI)?

The mini-implant, specifically the Sendax MDI system, was developed in order to provide greater denture stability for those patients who:

•  Cannot withstand the rigors of conventional implant surgery
•  Do not have sufficient bone to allow for full-sized implant placement
•  Are in on-going therapy from one prosthetic system to another

The mini-implant consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture.

The head of the implant is shaped like a ball, and the retaining fixture acts like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture at a pre-determined level of force. When seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. The implant fixtures allow for micro-mobility.
